Running dictation second session
Room 9 have just completed their second running dictation session. This one worked so much better due to clarity of parameters. I tried to extend the activity by getting the students to write a short response to the text. Most of the class didn't do this part. I have to wonder if I either did not clearly explain what the next step was, or that it was too difficult for them to shift their thinking from the activity to what may have appeared to them, a new activity. Here are some images and a short video from the activity.
Below is a short video with Halasika sharing his thoughts about this activity.

Running dictation pilot
It has been great to have Jane supporting our school with oral language. After a short meeting she suggested that I could try a running dictation activity.
My teaching as inquiry was set up around boys engagement in writing. My inquiry focus and plan and included. Below are some pictures of them working on the running dictation activity.
